NYX Single Eyeshadow in the shade Ocean Review

Hey Girls,

Today I will be writing about an Eyeshadow from NYX. The shade is called ocean. I do have other single shadows from NYX, the others I have are spring flower, tropical and cherry but this is my most loved one. NYX have a variety of products, they have a huge range of trios, 5 colored palettes, 10 color palettes and many bigger palettes and all the colors are amazing in quality.  Like the other three shadows I of course loved this one too. Price:  INR 375 but as usual I brought it on discount and this time it was a steal for me. I bought it for just INR 225 🙂

Packaging: NYX single eye shadows come in a little black packaging with a transparent lid. The packaging is sufficiently sturdy to protect the shadow from breakage (until it falls from a good height).

Ingredients:

Mica, disostearyl malate, talc, mineral oil, sorbitan sesquioleate, butylparaben. May Contain: polymethyl methacrylate, methylparaben, dimethicone, squalane, magnesium stearate, zinc stearate.

My take on the product:

Ocean is a shade of grayish green, like a shade of green in the pan and looks more like a grey on the lids.  It neither has any shimmer particles nor does it look matte when applied. It has a pearly finish to it. Starting with the pigmentation, ocean is decently pigmented; 2-3 layers are required to get the desired color. The shadow is smooth to apply and easy to blend. The staying power of the shadow is not as I expected, I expected it to be better than some other light colors of the same line, but it’s the same, it does stay for 2-3 hours without creasing, but after that it starts creasing. This situation is improved if a primer is applied before applying the shadow but I expected a little more.

The shadow does not have a fallout issue after application, but while dabbing the brush into the pan some of the shadow falls out as loose powder and gets wasted. So I won’t say that it has a huge fallout problem but wasting even a little product makes me sad :-(.

Pros:

• Amazing quality for this price
• Smooth to apply
• Easy to blend
• Nice transparent packaging makes it easy to recognize the color.
• Decent staying power

Cons:

• Average pigmentation
• A small amount of product may get wasted which dabbing the brush into the pan

Overall verdict:

I love NYX products but I am not completely satisfied this particular one, although I love the color and the fact that it is different but I expected it to be a little better. Overall it is an average product for me and I will try my best to convert the little problem areas into my favor.

Would I buy this product again?

This color would take some years to get finished so I can’t say that I will purchase the same color again but I will definitely buy these singles again (especially if I get them on so much discount :-))

Yes I do recommend this product and this shade too. It’s a unique shade and I loved it.
