I am a fan of bright eyelid colors, they might not be the best for everyday use, but I definitely love to play with some color on my lids. Because of my love for bright colored eyeshadows I always wanted to try Huda Beauty’s Electric Obsession Palette but as it is not easily available in India I was keen to find something similar with loads of shades to try. After searching on Nykaa I found this NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette Brights which was exactly what I wanted and it was affordable as compared to the Huda Beauty palette.
After using this palette for more than a couple of times, I am ready to share my opinion about the palette.
Price: INR 1725 for 16 shadows, 0.83 g each (BUY HERE)
At first, the palette might not seem too affordable but for 16 shades the price is 1725 which makes it just a little over 100 bucks for a shadow.
1001 color combinations for your eyes! The pro-level palette is truly the Ultimate Shadow Palettes featuring 16 expertly coordinated color combination eyeshadows, from naturals to smokies to pop. Each set features a vivid mix of velvety-rich textures and mesmerizing finishes that range from mattes and satins to shimmers and metallics.
- 16 professionally coordinated high-performance eyeshadows.
- Velvety shades and highly pigmented.
- The range of finishes allows different looks from smokey to natural to pop.
The eyeshadow contains 16 pans with every color you might ever want. As per the details mentioned on the back of the packaging, the palette contains 13 eyeshadows and 3 pressed pigments. 4 of the 16 shades contains sparkles (large enough to be seen clearly in the pan), while amongst the others, some are completely matte and some contain very mild shimmer.
NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette comes in square packaging with a transparent lid. Each of the 16 pans are square shaped too. There is nothing too fancy about the packaging, but due to the beautiful colors, it looks pretty. The pans are decently sized to work with. The palette does not come with any brushes or mirror.
My Experience with NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette Brights:
The palette contains 16 beautiful shades and all of them are bright colors (as the name of the palette suggests). Some of the darker colors have better pigmentation as compared to some lighter ones, but overall the color payoff of all the shades in the palette is good. A white base coat can be used to intensify the brightness of these colors.
The colors are super easy to work with as they blend beautifully into each other. There are some shimmer shades in the palette but the shimmer is very minute and cannot exactly be seen after application. The most pigmented shades in the palette are the 4 shimmery ones. The colors are good to layer too, if you do not get the desired pigmentation in one layer, you can always work on it with a second or third layer.
The staying power also depends on the colors used for the look. The lighter colors have slightly less staying power as compared to the more bright shades, but again everything can easily be improved with a base coat and a setting spray.
I won’t say that now as I have this palette I won’t buy the Huda Beauty one, but I am really impressed with this palette. It is an excellent palette for someone who loves colors and does not want to have multiple single shadows.
Pros of NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette Brights:
- Multiple colors at a decent price range
- Most of the colors are nicely pigmented even without a base
- Multiple looks can be created with this single palette
- Sturdy packaging makes it easy to travel with
- There is no fallout with any of the shades
- Decently sized pans make it easy to dip the brush in the desired color (without touching the neighboring color
- All the colors are easy to blend. They blend beautifully with the shadows of other palettes too
- Good staying power
Cons of NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette Brights:
The palette does not contain a matte black shade which might be a con for some ladies. It might get difficult to create a full eye look (until you are looking for all bright look). But I personally didn’t have a problem with this as the deep purple worked decently fine with me.
