Lottie London Soap Star Brush Cleanser (White) Review

Cleaning your makeup brushes properly and regularly is as important as cleaning your face, but sometimes this task of cleaning brushes becomes tedious and someone like me never feels like spending too much time in cleaning brushes. I always tend to take out new clean brushes to do my makeup. But then the task becomes even more difficult when I have a huge bunch of makeup brushes to clean. I used to clean my brushes with baby shampoo and I even tried oil but I wanted to get something that is non-liquid and easy to use. I actually wanted to get something like beauty blender solid cleanser but it was too pricey and not very easily available too.

While surfing Nykaa one day I came across a brand named Lottie in which I saw a Solid brush cleanser. I wasn’t sure about the brand and the cleanser was a bit pricey too but I decided to give it a try. Today after using it for months I am ready to share my opinion about this solid brush cleanser.

Packaging:

The cleanser is a white colored round bar of soap, which is said to be enriched with brush softening coconut oil. The cleanser bar is packed inside round plastic tub, which also contains a perforated sponge along with the cleanser. The tub is further packed in a cute cardboard packaging. Both the tub and the outer packaging have a star made on them, which makes the packaging even cuter. The round tub is sturdy enough to avoid breakage and it seems to be waterproof too. It shuts down properly and avoids any kind of moisture to enter inside the tub.

I am not sure about the sponge, which is present with the cleanser, but I guess it is given to help the cleanser not to retain moisture. Personally, for me the sponge comes really handy while cleaning the brushes, as sometimes hands are not enough to give the desired effect. Some foundation stains that are too hard to remove can be scrubbed onto the sponge and the foundation stains come out easily.

The cleanser must be used carefully as it might irritate skin and it also causes serious eye irritation (as mentioned on the packaging)

Ingredients:

Nothing much is mentioned about the ingredients used in the cleanser except the fact that it contains coconut oil. Also it contains 30% of soap and 5% Amphoteric surfactant.

My take on Lottie London Soap Star Brush Cleanser:

I love this product. I have been using this since almost 6 months and I love it so much that I have already bought a backup. Yes it is pricy but I am glad that it does not melt too fast. I am using it almost every week for a decent amount of brushes, but still I do have some product left. This solid brush cleanser is super easy to use, all I need to do is wet my brush and swirl it on the soap bar to get some product, swirl it some more time on my hand, and it’s done.

The difficulty comes when I have to clean my foundation brush with loads of foundation stains. For that, once I have the product on my brush I swirl the brush on the sponge, which somehow manages to scrub the leftover foundation out of the brush. The cleanser is not only useful for brushes but it also comes handy for makeup sponges. Though sponges are not that easy to clean, but with a little more time, those too can be cleaned properly.
