Today’s review would be about an eyeshadow palette which I recently purchased. ‘LA Colors Eyeshadow Palette Playful’ is one of the few products I shared in my July Haul. This is my first purchase from the brand from India. I used to have some little eyeshadow palettes from the brand a few years ago which I bought from the US and I remember liking those palettes. Let’s see how this particular one worked for me.
Price: INR 950 for 20 gm, with 16 eyeshadow shades (BUY HERE)
So much vibrant eyeshadow in one compact makes this palette Sweet! Create a variety of looks by mixing & matching shades available in matte, shiny, and shimmer finishes. Each palette contains 16 pigmented colors that delivers a rich color payout. Mix up some selfie-worthy eye looks! Includes 4 large base colors to enhance any eye look.
- 16 matte and shimmer shadows to contour, define and create any look you desire.
- Highly pigmented and long lasting stay.
- Smooth, velvety texture.
- Cruelty-free formula.
The eyeshadow palette comes in a regular packaging (like the majority of the other palettes). It has small rectangular pans with a transparent top. The palette I received had a weird plastic layer over its top which is still stuck to the lid making it look shabby. No mirror or applicator is provided with the palette. The palette closes with a click and is safe to travel with.
My Experience with LA Colors Eyeshadow Palette Playful:
The palette contains 16 eyeshadows, 8 of which are matte while the other 8 are shimmery. The palette has a good mixture of colors and is good for creating some everyday looks as well as some fun colorful looks. All the shades (inclusing the shimmery ones) feels extremly soft and creamy. Unfortunately, the pigmenatation of the shadows is not so amazing. The pigmentation seems fine when swatched with a finger, but on eyes, with a brush, it is really difficult to make the colors show.
The shadows are extremely powdery and thus have a lot of kickback. The first time I tried the palette for a look, I wanted to create a soft everyday look. It took almost 5-6 layers for the peach in the palette to show up on my lids. Whenever I tried to place the color on a certain section of the lid, the color flew everywhere except the place I wanted it to be. The darker shimmery shades are slightly better, but not so great either.
The one and the only thing I liked about this palette was the staying power of the shades. Though it took me a lot of time to create the look I wanted, but, I am glad that it stayed for a good 5 hours. I did use a primer like I usually do and might have improved the staying power.
Overall, the palette is good for beginners, the shadows are not very pigmented and a lot of work is required to make the colors show on the lids. I won’t recommend buying this at full price, but at a discounted price it is not a bad option, especially if you are new to makeup and want to try some colors without spending too much.
