MAC Lipstick in the shade Relentlessly Red Review and Swatches

Hello Beautiful Ladies,

Today I will be reviewing another color from my MAC Lipstick collection and the one I have today is called Relentlessly Red. It is one of my recent MAC Purchases and this one is special to me as this is the first cosmetic product that my parents selected for me (I didn’t even know that they are buying me a lipstick).

Product quantity: 3g

Price: INR 1450 (MAC have raise their prices, the time I bought this lipstick it was priced at Rs 990, then they raised it to Rs 1250 and now MAC lipsticks costs Rs 1450). Hopefully the prices have not been raised further.

My take on the product:

Packaging: This lipstick too comes in a black tube with a dome shaped lid. The packaging is completely opaque and the color name is written on a label pasted on the base of the lipstick. The packaging of the lipstick is cute and sturdy but the only problem is that they have to be recognized by name and for that the lipsticks have to be stored inverted. This actually becomes a little more difficult due to the dome shaped lid.

Color: Relentlessly Red is another bold shade from MAC; it is a bright neon kind of red with pink undertones. The lipstick looks stunning on the lips and the color has the power to make you look fairer. The color works well on majority of the skin tones but carrying such bold colors is not everyone’s cup of tea. This is actually a different kind of red, something that I have never owned in the past.

Pigmentation: As majority of the MAC Lipsticks, this too is highly pigmented. One swipe is sufficient to get an opaque color. But in a single swipe the color looks more on the pinky side, after applying second coat, it seems to be redder.

Texture: Relentlessly Red is a matte finish lipstick and hence is a bit drying on the lips. A lip balm underneath the lipstick becomes must. The lipstick is not too creamy but it is not too difficult to apply too. One thing that I didn’t like about the lipstick is that it makes the flaws of the lips appear more visible. Basically to apply this lipstick you need to have perfect flawless lips, hence always try to exfoliate your lips before applying this color.

Staying Power: The lipstick stays for a good 5 hours and still refuses to leave the lips. It actually stains the lips which becomes really difficult to remove, until you use a good makeup remover. You can expect this color to stay on with you even after a complete meal, but with some fading. The color does crease a bit for me especially in the inner sections of my lips, but as this is the problem I have with majority of the lipsticks I don’t have any complains.

Fragrance: All the MAC lipsticks have a nice vanilla fragrance to them and I love that fragrance. For the girls who does not like to have fragrance in their lipsticks need not worry as the fragrance fades away when the lipstick is actually applied on the lips.

Overall being a matte formulation this lipstick can be a bit drying, but except that I don’t have any complaints from this color. I am in love with this bright bold red and I am sure that I would definitely flaunt it on many occasions during summer.

Does not feel heavy on lips

Cons:

Drying Texture, a lip balm underneath the color is a must
Might crease in the inner sections of the lips
Difficult to recognize the desired color from a bunch of lipsticks due to all black packaging
Difficult to store the lipsticks upside down due to their dome shaped lids,
Pricy (especially now when MAC has raised their price so much)
